Raymond Schnake

July 28, 1931 — February 19, 2021

Raymond George Schnake, 89, of Key Colony Beach, FL, and Lake Sara, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at home in Florida. Ray was born on July 28, 1931 in Effingham, IL, the son of George E and Ella M (Borchelt) Schnake. He married Ruth Wenholz on June 6, 1953 in Chicago, IL and they shared 67 years of marriage.

Ray served in the Unite States Army at Fort Sill, OK from July 1953 to June 1955. Ray was an owner and manager of the George Schnake, Inc. Grain Elevator in St. Peter, IL for numerous years. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church of St. peter, IL serving as President of the congregation and as an elder. He served as Board Member and President of the First State Bank of St. peter of the St. Perter, IL.

Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially traveling having visited over 50 countries in his lifetime. He loved sharing the world with his children through camping and cruising.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter Kathy (Larry) Rupert of Glasford, IL; son David (Betty) of Carterville, IL; daughter-in-law Theresa Schnake of Spring Hill, FL; grandchildren, Jared Schnake of Nashville, TN; Elizabeth Wagner of Los Angeles, CA; Jason Schnake of West Palm Beach, FL, and Stefan (Kacy) Schnake of Knoxville, TN; step-grandchildren Kristina (James) Davis of Fort Worth, TX.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and son Gregory W Schnake of Spring Hill, FL and two siblings, Roy Schnake and Lucille Scheer.

Funeral Arrangements are pending. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church of St. Peter, IL or Martin Luther Chapel of Marathon, FL, or to the donor’s choice.
