Islamorada

Kenneth Brooks Davis, 64, of Islamorada, Florida passed away peacefully on September 12, 2020 at Baptist Hospital in Miami.  Born on December 9, 1955 in Fort Meyers, FL to William Howard Davis and Geraldine Wilhelmina Lipincott Davis, Ken dedicated his life to public service. He first served in the United States Coast Guard as a member of Coast Guard Intelligence before going on to serve with the Drug Enforcement Agency for 22 years. He retired in 2008 after a decorated career and as Resident Agent in Charge of the Florida Keys. After retirement he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq as a private contractor charged with coordinating counter-intelligence efforts. For his service, Ken was awarded the Joint service Civilian Commendation Medal and the Civilian Global War on Terrorism Medal from the U.S. Army. While in Baghdad, he chronicled his time there with a bi-weekly column in the Key West Blue Paper, The Road To Baghdad. He is currently a member of the Village Council and Vice-Mayor of Islamorada.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Charlotte Porter Davis of Islamorada, Fl. He was a dedicated father to his three children Robin Schofield Hopp and her husband Steven; Patrick Davis and his fiancé Lauren; and Cayenne Isaksen and her husband Ken. He was a loving grandfather to his five grandsons Cortland, Colter, Logan, Myles, and Carson. He is also survived by his siblings Bill Davis, Mary Walden, and Becky Hanley, his stepchildren Hannah and Charles, and many nieces and nephews. Ken was a devoted friend, considering many of them to be members of his extended family. He lived a life of service, adventure, and celebration and would want those who loved him to go on to do the same.

The family will be holding a private service in the coming weeks with plans to celebrate his life with all his friends, neighbors, and colleagues who love him when it can be done safely. They appreciate the outpouring of support they have received and look forward to the opportunity to honor him all together in the future.
