Brian Joseph Kiefer, 78 (June 11, 1941-January 11, 2020) passed away peacefully in his Florida Keys home of natural causes. He was the eldest of 8 children, son of Joseph and Caroline Kiefer of Queens, New York. Brian was a native of Queens and Long Island, New York. Brian had an extensive teaching career – he taught physics at Smith Town New York High School for 20 years (1962-1982). Brian left Smith Town in 1982 for a second 19-year career teaching in the international school system. He taught in private schools in Japan, Nairobi Kenya, Thailand, Turkey and Venezuela. Brian retired in 2000 to Florida – where he wanted to travel to a warmer climate where he could dig an outside fishpond that would supply angel tropical fish all year - that was the Florida Keys which he loved dearly for 20 years. Brian’s ‘Keys’ friends will remember him for his daily bicycle rides up and off Overseas Highway.
