Audrey Brown

April 5, 1955 — January 13, 2017

Audrey (Bilodeau) Lowrey Brown departed this earth for her next adventure on the pre-dawn morning of January 13, 2017.

Aud was a free spirit who loved her life in the Florida Keys. She was artistic, smart and fierce. Besides her delicious cooking and warm entertaining, she was known for the jewelry she designed, created and sold at local venues through her business, GeckoPosh.

With her husband Paul Kahn she worked in information technology in the life insurance and annuity industry, traveling throughout the country as an industry consultant. Her business analysis was as flawless as her hollandaise sauce.

Audrey was creative in artistic and technical ways, but most of all she was the witty, generous and loyal best friend to anyone who knew her.

Audrey packed a lot of living into her 61 years. She was born on April 5, 1955 in New Britain, Conn., the daughter of the late Joseph and Eleanor Bilodeau. Her dad called her “Squirrels” because she was always outside climbing trees as a kid. She grew up in Plainville where she graduated from Plainville High School in 1973. In classic fashion, she started in the mail room at Aetna Inc. in Hartford, learning the business from the ground up and building a solid reputation in the industry for her insight and tenacity.  Her career took her to many, many different vendors and clients over the years.

Family was her foundation. Besides Paul, her husband of 11 years and significant other for over 20, Audrey leaves her daughter, Melody Lowrey of East Hartford, and a joy of her life, granddaughter Aubrianna Kozuch of Key Largo. Her family includes sisters Jacqueline Smith of Bethel, Conn.; Cynthia Gabriele of Downingtown, Penn.; and brother Polycarpe Bilodeau of Tularosa, New Mexico; brothers-in-law James Smith and Gary Gabriele; nieces Sarah and Rebecca Flinn, Jennifer Currey and her husband Seth, Jacqueline Gabriele, Amanda Fantauzzi and her husband Michael, and Michelle Gabriele; Aunt Florette Olson and Uncle Pat Lodovico and many cousins.

She bravely fought liver cancer and its effects for over two years. On the full moon of Friday the 13th, she reached peace at last, though too soon for those who love her mightily.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Key Largo in April. We will miss her photos of sunset over Florida Bay and the unique spirit that is Audrey.
